Emergency Slide Gate For Continuous Casting

Function. An emergency slide gate system ensures safe operation of a continuous casting machine. In case of a mono-block stopper failure it stops the steel flow by cutting the Tundish Nozzle. The gate system consists of a baseplate, a moveable steel knife and a hydraulic actuator with air-cooled double housing.The emergency slide gate protects the casting equipment from damage by liquid steel. It increases the caster availability and reduces the maintenance costs.The slide gate is easy to mount, easy to maintain and easy to operate. It is fixed to the bottom of the tundish with two or four wedge bolts and can easily be centered by the special design of the straight welding plate of the tundish.

Changing the SES (Subentry Shroud) during casting has become state-of-the-art of Slab Casters and provides:

• Extended lifetime of a tundish, reduces number of flying tundish changes and increases productivity and yield loss of the caster.
• Provide steel flow control by maintaining optimal condition of SES that improves product quality.
• Instant and safe shut-off of the steel flow in case of operational problems.

NC14 – Nozzle Changer increases productivity, flexibility and operational safety. For new installations and replacement of existing systems.

Changing the metering nozzles during casting has become state-of-the-art of Billet and Bloom Casters and provides:

• Sturdy and compact design.
• Low weight unit do not need handling devices.
• Smooth and fast nozzle exchange (< 0.3 sec).
• 2 x 2 clamping fingers loaded by thermodynamic gas spring elements.
• Directly fitting to most tundishes of existent nozzle changers and/or easy adaptation.
• Stand-by Blank plate for instant and safe termination of casting.
• Suitable for existent hydraulic control systems.
